I will praise the LORD God with a song and a thankful heart. Ps. 69:30
Praying for the children at Namitete – that God would use their hands to do His work. We visited 3 ACOP orphan care feeding centers at Lumbadzi, Mponela, and Namitete with children present from 9 centers.
Visiting an ACOP high school of 300 students from grades 10-12 at Mpanda Apostolic Mission.
3 ACOP churches gathered at Chulu for a big Sunday service. The ladies prepared a delicious lunch!
We met with ACOP Malawi President, Stephen Banda, who is an extraordinary leader, full of the Holy Spirit, and leading the expanding ACOP with great vision, as well as the ACOP national executive. A meeting with the ACOP orphan care committee was also held to discuss possible ways forward in addressing the needs of thousands of orphans as well as vulnerable people. Right now, it is estimated that 6.5 million Malawians will need total food assistance this year in the wake of extreme drought.
We also viewed the resulting damages of the 2015 flooding which leveled one of the Lilongwe churches and attended the mourning for a good friend who passed away.
I was privileged to minister with Dan Adam and team from Harewood Community church in Nanaimo – who have been heavily involved in the orphan care work for almost a decade – and Stan Powers from Surrey.
It’s never difficult
It’s never difficult to return to the place we moved to in 1994! The people, the churches, the familiar sights, sounds and smells all make my heart burst with joy. Thank you for praying and supporting so that we can continue to partner with this exploding and dynamic ACOP movement. The churches are full of children and youth and the youth are aggressively planting new churches. We give the Lord all the praise and glory for the good work He is doing in Malawi. Please continue to pray for them as they negotiate through another very trying season of hunger.
